The whole thing, in plain English

It's Uber — but for laundry.

Someone with a hamper opens one app. Laundry shops nearby get a ping on another. One of them takes the job, washes it, and gets paid in full. UniHamper is the bit in the middle — and we never take a cut of what the shop charges.

One order · start to finish

What actually happens, in order.

The left column is the customer's phone. The right column is the laundromat's. Follow the line down and you've seen the whole product.

01

The laundry gets posted

Wash & fold or dry clean, how much of it, and when it's needed. The amount is the customer's estimate — nobody has weighed anything yet.

02

They choose how far to look

5, 10, 15 or 25 miles from the pickup address. That circle decides which shops are even in the running.

03

One shop, or everyone

Send it direct to a laundromat they already like — or broadcast it to every provider inside that circle.

04

Your phone buzzes

A push notification, and the job lands on your Dispatch page with the service, the size, the timing and what you'd net on it.

05

You decide whether to take it

Nothing is ever assigned to you. A broadcast goes to whoever taps first; a direct order waits for you. Skip it and there's no penalty.

Secure Order · Accept Order
06

You pick it up and weigh it

Now you know the real number of loads or pounds — and it's usually not what the customer guessed.

07

You correct the price

Enter the actual loads, actual weight, or your per-garment dry-clean prices, add a one-line note, and send it over.

Adjust Price → Confirm & Update Price
08

The customer approves it

They get a text and a notification and tap Approve. A price that came out lower needs no approval at all — they just pay less.

09

The wash starts — and only now is the card charged

Everything up to this point was a hold, not a payment. The money is taken the moment the laundry actually begins.

💳 this is the only moment money moves
10

Folded, delivered, done

Drop it back or hand it over, and mark it delivered. Pickup and delivery is a flat $9.99 and it goes to whoever drove.

11

Rating, and maybe a tip

Stars show on your shop's card for the next customer browsing. Tips are separate and paid out to you on top.

12

You get paid

Earnings land in your payout balance and go out through Stripe on your schedule — free twice a month, or daily for a $0.99 admin fee.

Distance

Why some orders reach you and others don't.

Every order is anchored to the customer's pickup address, and the customer chooses how wide to cast the net. You only ever see jobs whose circle you're standing inside.

Search range rings around a customer's address Concentric circles at 5, 10, 15 and 25 miles around a customer's pickup address. Laundromats inside the circle the customer chose receive the order; a shop 31 miles out never sees it. 5 mi 10 mi 15 mi 25 mi PICKUP ADDRESS 3 mi 8 mi 14 mi 31 mi — out of range

Diagram — the rings aren't drawn to scale.

The customer sets the circle

The range picker opens at 10 miles, and it's one tap to widen it to 15 or 25 — or tighten it to 5 if they'd rather stay close to home.

Outside the circle, outside the job

Providers beyond the chosen distance are never shown the order and never get the notification. It isn't a queue you're low in — you're simply not in it.

Campus orders anchor on campus

When a student books a pickup at their school, the circle is drawn around the school — not wherever they happen to be standing.

Being closer helps you

Nearby shops turn up in every circle, the tight ones included. It's the single biggest reason one shop sees more orders than another.

Two ways in

How an order finds a laundromat.

The customer picks one of these two before they place the order. Both land in your Dispatch page — they just arrive differently.

Option one

Direct to one shop

The customer browses the providers in range, looks at prices and ratings, and sends the order straight to the one they want. Nobody else sees it.

CUSTOMER SENDS IT STRAIGHT TO YOU YOUR SHOP NOT SHOWN NOT SHOWN

Option two

Broadcast to everyone in range

The order goes out to every provider inside the customer's circle at once. First to tap Secure Order keeps it; everyone else sees it disappear.

UniHamper takes no commission from providers. Not a percentage, not a listing fee, not a monthly subscription. Our fee sits on the customer's side of the receipt.

How one order's total splits, and when the card is charged The customer's total is made of the shop's own price, which the shop keeps in full, a flat $9.99 delivery fee that goes to the driver, and UniHamper's own fee added on top. Customers within range see your shop and can send you work directly, and every broadcast inside that range pings your phone.

02

Say what you need

Wash & fold or dry clean, roughly how much, and when you need it back. A rough guess is fine — the shop confirms it once they weigh it.

03

Choose how far to look

5, 10, 15 or 25 miles. Wider means more shops and usually a faster pickup; tighter keeps your clothes closer to home.

04

Pick a shop, or ask them all

Compare prices and ratings and send it to the one you want — or broadcast it and take the first pro who accepts.

05

Authorize, don't pay

We put a hold on your card for the estimate. Nothing is charged until your wash starts, and cancelling before that is free.

06

Approve the real price

If it weighed more, you get a notification with the new number and a note. You approve or reject it — it's never charged automatically. Cheaper than the estimate? You just pay less.

07

Track it, talk to them

Live status from pickup to drop-off, with chat and call straight to your provider.

08

Get it back folded

Delivered to your door for a flat $9.99, or collect it yourself for free. Then rate them, and tip if they earned it.

Straight answers

What providers ask us in the first five minutes.

No
Do you take a cut of my prices?
You keep 100% of the price you set, plus the delivery fee and any priority surcharge on your orders. UniHamper's fee is added on top of your price and paid by the customer — it never comes out of yours.
No
Is there a fee to be listed?
Nothing to join, nothing monthly, no minimum. The only optional costs are a $0.99 admin fee if you switch to daily payouts instead of the free twice-monthly ones, and promos, which you only start if you choose to advertise.
No
Do I have to accept every order?
A notification is an offer, not an assignment. Ignore a broadcast and another shop takes it. Nothing is auto-assigned to you, and there's no penalty for a job you skip.
All of them
I have more than one store.
Add each shop on the same phone number, using that store's zip, and switch between them in Account → Switch Store without logging out. Each keeps its own hours, prices, orders and payouts — and if two of your shops are in range of one customer, both are shown and both get the broadcast.
Adjust it
What if it weighs more than they said?
Expected — every order arrives as an estimate. Tap Adjust Price, enter what you actually have, and the customer approves the new number. You're paid on the corrected amount, not their guess.
At the wash
When is the customer actually charged?
When the laundry starts. Everything before that is a hold on the card, so a customer who cancels early pays nothing — and you never start work on an order whose money isn't secured.
Yes
Can I use this with my own customers?
That's the point. Create an offer code, hand it to your regulars, and they get online ordering, live status, card payment and a receipt — while the order locks to your shop. Student demand is on top of that, not instead of it.
2–3 days
How fast do I get my money?
Earnings move into your payout balance as orders complete and go out on your schedule — free on the 1st and 15th, or daily for $0.99. Once released, Stripe settles to your bank in 2–3 business days.
You do
Who handles sales tax?
You're an independent business. You set your rate, we collect it from the customer, you remit it to your state. The Tax & Settlement report in Deposits gives you the numbers as a PDF.
